Perranzabuloe Parish Council is proposing to introduce a dog control order that will require dogs to be kept on leads on stretches of Perranporth beach from 1st July to 31st August each year, between the hours of 10am and 5pm. The on-lead restrictions would apply within the following areas:
- The southern edge by the Promenade and cliffs to Droskyn point
- The eastern edge by the south west coastal path from the Promenade to Flat Rocks
- The western edge by the sea
- The northern edge by a straight line in a north westerly direction from the foot of the steps at Flat Rocks to the sea.
Commenting on the use of dog control orders, Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club Communications Director, said: "Dog control orders are becoming more common as councils attempt to find ways to control dog fouling and reign in irresponsible dog owners. Unfortunately, this often means responsible dog owners are also penalised and have to suffer restrictions.
"Frequently, public consultations come and go without the majority of the public knowing about them or having a chance to have their say. KC Dog aims to alert people to dog control order consultations and thereby ensure the fairest outcome for all."
The Parish Council's consultation will run until 10th March. Responses should be sent to the Clerk to the Council at Perranzabuloe Parish Council, Chyanhale, Ponsmere Valley, Perranporth, Cornwall, TR6 0DB, or by email to perranzabuloedogcontrolorder@hotmail.co.uk.
